Counseling Available @ GBC

When you need a helping hand and a listening ear

DO YOU NEED COUNSELING?

We understand that there are times in life when you just need a helping hand. You might be doing very well in some parts of your life while struggling in others. Now might be the time when you need someone to come alongside to encourage you and guide you from the Bible.

Please note: Counselors set appointments when they have time available. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

What kind of problems can we help with?

  • People struggling in their marriage relationships.

  • Parents who need help with their children, or the other way around.

  • People struggling with financial problems: debt, financial planning, budgeting.

  • People trying to find purpose in life.

  • People dealing with sexual sin.

  • People who have emotional trouble: depression, anger, bitterness, grief, etc.

  • People with many kinds of problems.

In all cases, we use the Bible, God's sufficient Word, to answer the problems of life.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM GBC'S COUNSELING CENTER?

  1. Encouragement - Each of our counselors will encourage you to succeed and appeal to you to follow Jesus with your whole heart.

  2. Respect - Each of our counselors will care for you, pray for you, and treat you respectfully.

  3. Privacy - Our counselors will keep your information in strict confidence except when the counselor needs help from other counselors or believes there is a biblical requirement to get others involved (criminal activity, for example.) See our confidentiality policy.

What does Grace Counseling expect from you?

  1. Be honest - It is usually impossible for us to provide real help until we understand the whole situation. You will not be belittled or judged. We aim at the future, not the past.

  2. Do your homework - During most counseling sessions, you will be given projects that will help you to grow and change in permanent ways.

  3. Give us some time - Your problems did not develop overnight; true and lasting change will usually take several weeks. We meet with most people for 3-4 months on a weekly basis.

ABOUT OUR COUNSELORS

Your counselor may be a pastor or he/she may be a volunteer from the church, but all of our counselors go through a rigorous training program in biblical counseling. Each of them meets demanding qualifications, not only from our office, but from a national certifying organization as well.

Please note...Our counselors are not trained in psychiatry or psychology. We are biblical counselors. However, God wrote the Bible long before psychology was developed, so His answers can help everyone -- even people who might otherwise be referred to psychological help (bipolar, schizophrenic, depressed, mentally ill, etc.).

WHAT'S THE COST?

Grace Bible Church provides the facilities. All counselors volunteer their time. Therefore, we can offer counseling free of charge.

We require only a $25 deposit which is used to purchase filing supplies, small booklets, and other materials your counselor will use during counseling sessions.

If you find help from the counseling and are able to donate to help counselors further their training, you may do so at any time. Just ask your counselor.
